Confident Truter insists AmaZulu will 'fix the country in Durban'

AmaZulu head coach Brandon Truter has backed his side to beat Kaizer Chiefs in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final to be played in Durban.

The tie is evenly balanced after Chiefs and AmaZulu played to a 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After being reduced to 10 men as Veluyeke Zulu received a red card, AmaZulu bravely held on to avoid defeat against a rampant Kaizer Chiefs side desperate for a win.

Truter believes his side still have what it takes to topple Amakhosi in the return leg.

"Being reduced to ten men around the 60th minute, having an away goal, coming 1-1 and then going to Durban, for us I think it's a very good result. [We'll] try to fix the country in Durban,"  Truter light-heartedly said.

"Wherever Chiefs play you saw it last time they were in Durban at the Moses Mabhida, they filled up the stadium, for us it's just to call on the AmaZulu supporters to help us in that regard.

"Talking about the results an the game. I think in the first half we were very good. They found it difficult to contain us. We played right through them," Truter added.

Despite playing away, Truter added that he felt it was a game AmaZulu could have and should have won after scoring the first goal.

"We should have remained calm, managed it better but at least we came in at half-time one-nil up," Truter added.

"For the goal as well, we had numbers around the ball to stop the ball from being crossed and then it went through over two players' boots so luck was on their side to get the equaliser, but for us it's a good result."

The drama-filled encounter ended with referee Victory Gomes having shown a total of four red cards to Veluyeke Zulu, Gabadinho Mhango, George Matlou as well as AmaZulu goal keeper coach Abselon Johan respectively.

Truter also dismissed any suggestion that his side had been set up to play defensively.

"It's AmaZulu's 90th birthday. We wanted to win the game. We came out here to get the results, to take the advantage home. But being reduced to ten men, you have to take what you can," concluded Truter.
