Dlamini: 'We will compete with Sundowns'

Interim head coach Ayanda Dlamini says AmaZulu will take the game to Mamelodi Sundowns when Usuthu hosts the DStv Premiership Champions on Wednesday night.

After collecting an important three points against Sekhukhune United on Saturday, The Durban-based outfit is looking to keep up the momentum as they prepare to take on The Brazilians at Princess Magogo Stadium.

Usuthu are desperate for points after finding themselves in 11th position with just one win from their last five outings. Dlamini's charges are just seven points adrift off bottom-of-the-table Maritzburg United with three matches to play.

"It's an important game for us and after the win on Saturday, we still need the points in our situation and we are coming up against the champions," Dlamini told the club's media.

"We are playing at home, we have to take the game to them and try to take chances and score chance that we create but we know that it will be difficult because it's Sundowns.

"But the fighting spirit that the boys showed over the weekend encourages one to say that we will go there and compete again with Sundowns.

Although Usuthu will be without Sphesihle Maduna after the 22-year-old was red carded against Sekhukhune United, Dlamini will rely on players like Ramahlwe Mphahlele and George Maluleka, who have both previously played for the opposition.

"I'm very happy and confident especially at the back, you see Rama gave us a lot with is experienced at the back to have players like that that can organize the team easily it makes your job easy as a coach," added Dlamini.
