From a distance, Augustine Chidi Kwem appeared a perfect fit for AmaZulu FC and deserving to continue at the club this coming season.
Kwem had ended the season as the club's top scorer in the league in what was his second year with the Durban club.

Yet when decisions were made to reshuffle the squad, he was amongst those leaving along with George Maluleka, Victor Letsoalo and Veluyeke Zulu.
"The club had an option, but they didn't exercise it, so that is why I left," Kwem tells KickOff.
"It was the club's decision not to exercise, which is normal in football.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity that I got while I was with the club.
"What matters now is that I will have to move on to another club because I also feel I need the change of environment.
"I scored seven goals in the league from 23 games that I played, but most of the games (14) I came on as a substitute.
"It is important to respect the fact that the option was in the club's power, and they made the decision that was best for them.

"From now on, I look forward to doing a job for another club," says Kwem.
Several clubs have since shown interest in the 26-year-old, who has also played for TS Galaxy and Chippa United before.
"It is a matter of weighing up the options that will come my way.

"I want to play football," he notes.
Kwem arrived in South Africa in 2017 and had to stay in Protea Glen, Soweto in his early days before battling it out in the lower divisions until he got his break at Chippa, where he was recommended by Bruce July.
