AmaZulu FC trusted midfielder and captain Makhehlene Makhaula is surprised by rumours linking him with Orlando Pirates.
According to various sources, Pirates are eyeing the 33-year-old and are planning to bring him on board in the next transfer window if possible.
Makhaula has been a revelation for Usuthu since joining from Highlands Park in 2020.
He is one of the few players who has managed to remain consistent in his game for more than three consecutive seasons in the Premier Soccer League.
Makhaula's contract with Usuthu is expiring in six months.
"That's news to me, I'm surprised and shocked and it's the first time I hear about this (laughs)," He tells KickOff.
"At the moment I still have an existing contract with AmaZulu, though those rumours does make me happy, I must insist I don't know about them, unless there is something happening behind behind the scenes.
"I didn't expect this, AmaZulu is the club that gave me a job so I had planned to stay longer.
"Honestly I don't know what is happening, but these rumours are shocking, let's hope I will sign with AmaZulu."
Like his client, Makhaula's agent Sizwe Ntshangase also refuted the rumour.
"I don't have a story regarding that because nobody has spoken to me regarding that matter so I don't have a story on that matter," Said Ntshangase, "I have never spoken anyone my brother. Yes his contract it's nearing its end, but I don't want to make a comment at this stage.
"I advise people to call AmaZulu and ask them about this."
AmaZulu chairman Sandile Zungu could not be reached for a comment.
