Folz: The performance against Pirates was a good sign

New AmaZulu coach Romain Folz was pleased that the players were able to implement the basics against Orlando Pirates, but insists there is room for improvement.

Folz, who replaced Brandon Truter, watched his side go ahead late in the first half but surrendered before halftime and ultimately ended up drawing the match.

The former Marumo Gallants tactician says there are still areas that need improvement but he was pleased with the first-half showing.

"Firstly, I would like to say thank you for the team performance today it's a good sign. It's still early in the process, but it's good that we able to implement the basics that we want to do," Folz told SuperSport TV.

"I would agree and disagree with your statement that we are defence for us, I would also say that we had the defence against us. I would like to re-watch some of the things that happened in the first half, but you're correct saying that the first half was better than the second one.

"I think that our physical attributes are a little bit shaky in some departments which doesn't allow us to repeat the efforts as much as we would've liked in the second half but I'm happy with the fact that the players that entered from the bench did well.

"We have a youngster that played close to 60 minutes, he did well, he fought hard. So, in and out we're not happy because we would've liked to win that game and we feel that there was room to win.

"Its not about starts overall but there's definitely room for more and we're looking to improve and be even better in the next league game."
