Bafana booked their spot in the 24-team competition with an impressive victory away from home against Libya last Sunday, thanks to a brace from Percy Tau and an excellent display in goal by Darren Keet.
Hunt feels the team has a good group of players who can go to Egypt and make the country proud.
“I’m proud, I’m happy. It’s where we should be, qualifying for all major tournaments, the Nations Cup, World Cup. I think this is a very good group of players, young players. If you look at our under-23s and 20s, there’s a lot of good young players. I think the future looks bright,” Hunt said.
“I think, and it’s not a pressure [statement], they’ve got a great chance. I think on level playing field, on neutral ground in Egypt, they’ve got a great chance. They have some good players, there’s good togetherness and they can play in different ways and get results, which is very important. There’s some poor teams there, so if we get a good group then we can go through. I think they could go close, I really do.”
