Broos determined to solve Zwane problem

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane faces an uncertain future with Bafana Bafana.

Zwane almost lost his Bafana career at the same time head coach Hugo Broos rebuilt the previous squad, as he was included in the list of older players who were cut from the national team such as Andile Jali, Thulani Hlatshwayo and Thulani Serero, among others.

However, the 34-year-old did not drop in performance for Sundowns, as he remained one of the best players in the PSL and was recalled by the Belgian, who admitted that he made a mistake to judge 'Mshishi' based on his age.

Bafana will look to plan for their next commitment on the international calendar in March, where SA will play friendly matches against Andorra and Algeria.

Broos confirmed in a press conference before departing for South Africa, he will make some changes and that in particular, he will be focusing on finding players who can compete with or replace Zwane.

"Certainly there will be new players in March, how much I don't know. I don't think there will be ten new players," Broos told the media before departing Ivory Coast.

"But there are some positions in the team which we need to have more attention than the others. On the right side there is no problem, for example, we don't need to look for another right-back, Nyiko (Mobbie) and him, no problem.

"But there are some positions we have to look, I said already we'll see what happens with Themba (Zwane) but even if Themba is there we need someone also to replace him when we need and when we can," he added.

Zwane started in all Bafana matches at AFCON but only completed 90 minutes in one game against Cape Verde in the quarter-finals.

'Mshishi' promised to take the tournament by storm after scoring an impressive brace in a 4-0 win over Namibia but could not make an impact in knockout stages.
