Jordaan was responding to a question about the mandate they are giving to Stuart Baxter's side after they booked their place in Egypt.
"If you saw the reception the squad reveived after that win, you can see what we need as a country. Going to AFCON we want to see a team that not only wins but has the fighting spirit that we saw in 1996 when we won the Nations Cup," he said.
"Sometimes it's not about the win, it's about how you fight. The determination and fighting spirit that we saw against Libya, if we can keep that then the country will be happy. It's now up to Stuart Baxter to work on a strong squad that can deliver at AFCON."
The association's president was then asked about the reason behind the delay in appointing a permanent assistant coach to Baxter, who has been changing his technical team from Quinton Fortune to Shaun Bartlett.
"We will discuss that with the coach, it's not SAFA that decides on the assistant," Jordan explained. "We allow Baxter to take his time because any coach has to be comfortable with his technical staff."
