A former Kaizer Chiefs coach has backed Hugo Broos' resignation statement regarding failure to qualify Bafana Bafana for the next Africa Cup of Nations, which is set to take place in Morocco in 2025.
South Africa are currently in second place in Group K and only need two points from the two remaining fixtures to qualify for Africa's biggest football event.

Broos has stated he will step down as head coach if he does not secure at least two points in the upcoming qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.
Sergio Dos Santos believes the Belgian's bold declaration shows his confidence in the team.
"What he is saying is that he obviously believes in his players and trusts that they will succeed," says Dos Santos.
"He is expressing his confidence in the team and putting pressure on them to perform and ensure qualification."
Broos aims to win against Uganda on Friday, which would alleviate any concerns about the South Sudan match at home.
"He has a very good team, and they have performed exceptionally well so far, which is why he is challenging them to deliver," Dos Santos noted.
"What Broos is implying is that if he cannot qualify with this team under the current circumstances, he should resign. This places the onus on the players to decide if they want him as their coach. If they support him, they must work hard to ensure qualification. He is challenging them to step up."

Dos Santos acknowledged the difficulty of away matches, saying, "It's going to be tough because playing away from home is always challenging, but Bafana must finish the job tomorrow."
The game against the Cranes kicks off at 15:00.
