'I don't know what's happening' - Broos criticises Bafana

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has described their first-half display against Eswatini as a "disaster" after the goalless draw on Friday.

Bafana struggled to create clear chances and hardly threatened the 144th-ranked Eswatini, who were happy to frustrate Broos' charges by sitting deep and their defensive efforts earned them a goalless draw.

"I'm more than disappointed, I didn't understand why the team was playing like this, already the first-half no passion, no rhythm, I don't know what's happening, really I don't know what's happening," Broos told SABC Sport TV.

"I said it at half-time, I hoped we would see a better team but it was exactly the same, so I don't know. I think we have to think about what we did today in the game and when they are honest with themselves they know it was very bad," he said.

The Belgian tried to energize the side with a triple change at half-time as he brought on Bongokuhle Hlongwane, Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Mduduzi Mdantsane but says the substitutions, including Zakhele Lepasa late in the game, did not make a difference.

"You have to do something, when we were playing the first-half, it was a disaster, it was very bad. I think we didn't have one chance, we had one chance I think 20 minutes before the end, for the rest nothing, not even being dangerous," Broos went on.

"With all respect, like Eswatini? You try something at half-time by pulling some players but even that didn't change," he added.

Bafana will travel to Ivory Coast to play against the Africa Cup of Nations host nation on Tuesday evening in Abidjan, in another international friendly.
