Bafana Bafana and Eswatini played to a disappointing goalless draw in an international friendly on Friday evening.
AmaZulu's Veli Mothwa replaced Ronwen Williams in goal, while the in-form Lyle Foster led the line and was flanked by Khanyisa Mayo and Mihlali Mayambela.
It was a torrid opening for the visiting nation that conceded the first chance when Themba Zwane closed-in through smart bit of play but he failed to find the net.
There was more danger that followed the travelling outfit who needed goalkeeper Khayakwezwe Shabalala to thwart a penetrative shot from a clever angle by Mayambela and keep it score-less.
Shabalala frustrated the host again minutes ahead of the half-hour mark when he managed to keep out a rasping effort by Mayo.
Foster, who has been in a rich vein of form for Burnley in the Premier League, had his first shot in anger in the final ten minutes, but the Eswatini defence did their job and courted the forward.
Bafana unleashed a trio of substitutes after the break, with Sandile Mthethwa in for Teboho Mokoena to Mayambela removed for Bongokuhle Hlongwane before Mduduzi Mdantsane filled in for Zwane.
Mdantsane looked to make an instant impact and were presented the chance to do so through a penetrative effort from close-range, but Shabalala continued to hold firm.
Orlando Pirates fullback Paseka Mako, who was a late call-up, came on to make his national team debut and replaced Aubrey Modiba in the midway point of the second stanza.
The contest became largely even following the latter exchanges which had the visitors coming in their own and bothering the host on a couple of occasions.
However, neither side continued to misfire in front of goal as full-time loomed and saw the match end in a goalless draw.
