'Just tell him to dance' - Pitso hails Zwane masterclass

Former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has hailed Themba Zwane following the midfielder's impressive showing during Bafana's six-goal thriller against Algeria on Tuesday.

A Zwane brace and an Elias Mokwana effort were not enough to earn an away victory against a spirited Algerian side, who responded just as venomously through a Yassine Benzia brace and a Yacine Brahim strike at the opposite end of the pitch to end the match in a stalemate.

The encounter was Zwane's 45th match in a Bafana shirt and his brace takes him up to 11 goals for the national team.

The stand-out performance did not go unnoticed by Zwane's former coach, Mosimane, who worked with 'Mshishi' at Sundowns from 2012 to 2020 in a spell that produced multiple titles, including the 2016 CAF Champions League.

Mosimane took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his admiration for the attacking midfielder.

"No arguments with the Coaches, but has an opinion," Mosimane said of Zwane.

"He keeps the dressing room quiet and focused, unselfish behavior and cares about the team.

"Does not like anybody who dims his light. Always laugh but an introvert. You have to give him respect and appreciate his talent.

"Just tell him to dance and ski on the pitch and sit back.

"You will enjoy. Leader!"

Zwane now turns his attention to the CAF Champions League, where Mamelodi Sundowns take on Tanzanian giants Young Africans in the first leg of the quarterfinals stage on Saturday. Kick-off is at 20:00 (SA time).
