Hugo Broos is being backed to miraculously achieve success with Bafana Bafana at the AFCON finals just like he did with Cameroon in 2017.
Though AFCON qualification has been achieved after failure to reach the previous tournament under Molefi Ntseki, Broos is still not popular with some armchair critics and sections of the media.

"At first, what is Hugo Broos' record with Bafana and has he failed with any assignment that he said he will deliver," asks former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Alain Amougou talking to KickOff.com from his homeland in Cameroon.
Broos' record reads nine wins, four draws and three defeats and worth noting is that the games he lost were away in France, Morocco, and Ghana in controversial circumstances.

"From what has been happening with Bafana Bafana through the years where should they start?
"Shouldn't it be qualification for the AFCON finals?
"Hasn't he delivered on that?
"I don't understand why South Africans are complaining about qualification, yet they failed to qualify for the last tournament.
"After you have qualified for the AFCON, you then start plan for the World Cup qualification because football works like that.
"You can't be wanting to be qualifying for the World Cup when you can't even qualify for the AFCON.

"I have seen how he (Broos) works from his time here in Cameroon where he wasn't accepted by the people when he was appointed.
"For me, he had the worst team of Cameroon in 2017 but took us to AFCON glory.
"That was the worst team that Cameroon has ever had but he won us the trophy against all odds doing so by instilling good mentality.
"If he could win the AFCON with such a poor Cameroon team then he can do the same with South Africa if he is given the support.
"He proved most of us here in Cameroon wrong and he will do the same in South Africa.
"Broos can even win the AFCON if the team follows what he wants them to do and gets the support.
"Once he gets out of the group at the AFCON, South Africa will be the team to follow and those criticising him will be celebrating.
"I don't think all these attacks on him are warranted and at times I feel like some South Africans didn't even want the team to qualify under him.

"He knows how to handle the pressure from the people and is a good coach for South Africa because he always knows what he is doing.
"In Cameroon, people didn't like him at all but what I like about him is that he went on with his job and always knew what he was always doing.
"I always like that kind of coach.
"The most important thing about him is that he knows how to manage a group and bring it to a certain level.
"This man knows where he is going and is a winning guy who knows how to deliver the results.
"He just needs to have a leader in his team to help him implement his strategy.
"I don't know him personally and he is not my friend so I'm not here defending him.
"It is unfortunate that he is being attacked by people who have never even won the AFCON or even coached at an international level," says Amougou.
