Banyana Banyana hit by injury as goalkeeper Yolula Tsawe withdraws, Mapaseka Mpuru called up

Goalkeeper Yolula Tsawe injured her hand at training and has been withdrawn from the squad. Mapaseka Mpuru, South African U-20 Women’s national team (Basetsana) goalkeeper, has taken her place.

The HPC player was instrumental in Basetsana reaching the final round of the 2016 Papua New Guinea Women’s World Cup qualifiers when they defeated a stubborn Zambia 3-2 at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa this past weekend.

The U-20 international has already arrived in camp, as has USA-based striker Jermaine Seoposenwe, with both expected to train with the squad on Thursday afternoon.

The Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana take on Equatorial Guinea in a crucial decider on Sunday, 18 October at Estadio de Bata in Equatorial Guinea.

Kickoff is 17h00 South African time.

The winner between South Africa and Equatorial Guinea will qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil next year.
