Banyana through to African Women Championship semis

The South Africans went into the game needing a win to progress following a defeat against Cameroon and a draw with Ghana, and Vera Pauw’s charges did not disappoint to set up a meeting with Nigeria in the last four.

Nompumelelo Nyandeni missed an early penalty for Banyana, but the goal did come on 37 minutes when Amanda Dlamini fired past the goalkeeper.

Portia Modise made it 2-0 just before the break, before Sana Molloa netted a third with 20 minutes remaining.

Mamello Makhabane got a fourth on 80 minutes before Modise completed the rout, netting a fifth – and her 100th international goal in the process.
