It follows their expulsion from the Olympic Games qualifiers and comes after years of using Brazilian mercenaries to boost their cause.
The small central African country qualified for the 2011 Women’s World Cup in Germany at the expense of South Africa with a team of hired mercenaries but are now being drummed out.
CAF said it had disqualified the country from the Women’s Championship in Cameroon later this year and that their place in the field would be taken by Mali.
Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe make up the rest of the field.
Equatorial Guinea cannot also participate in the 2018 and 2020 tournaments. The 2018 championship will be the one that determines the African qualifiers for the next Women’s World Cup in France.
CAF found Equatorial Guinea guilty of fielding a player, Camila Nobre do Carmo Oliveira, whose passport was potentially falsified.
“The player had been registered for the 2014 African Women’s Championship in Namibia with the name Camila Nobre Maria Carmo and a date of birth of 10 July, 1994. For the 2016 qualifiers, the recorded date of birth is 10 June 1988 and the name Camilla Nobre do Carmo Oliveira.”
It was for the same reason that Equatorial Guinea were kicked out of the Olympic Games qualifiers.
