Banyana Banyana lost 2-1 to European champions England in an international friendly on Tuesday night.
Thembi Kgatlana, Sinoxolo Cesane and Linda Motlhalo set out in the attack, while Noxolo Cesane and Hildah Magaia also featured after the 5-0 pasting by Denmark on Friday.
The reigning African champions were down after just 12 minutes as England skipper Leah Williamson got hold of a loose ball and curled into the bottom-corner.
With a sign of resistance, England raced further in front during the midway stage when a delightful cross from Maya Le Tissierf found Grace Clinton who headed in easily.
Clinton went searching for a brace a while later through a penetrative shot from a clever angle in-and-around the six-yard area, but failed to bring Kaylin Swart to work.
Banyana's fortitude particularly in the attacking third began to show following the closing stages to halftime, but in spite failed to cut the deficit.
As the score-board made for dire reading, Banyana opted for changes before the resumption with goalkeeper Andile Dlamini on for Swart before Kholosa Biyana replaced Sinoxolo.
Banyana did reduce the tally ten minutes from the break where a high-press brought about a turnover and Kgatlana charged clear to finish calmly into the bottom-corner.
The reigning European champions hoped to go further in front minutes after being breached, but the woodwork denied Chloe Kelly nestling the top corner from way out.
Kgatlana was clean through and looked to have levelled matters with a first-time finish from point-blank range, but unfortunately was denied and flagged for offside.
Banyana remained courageous with the clock ticking away, but failed to inspire a comeback and succumbed to a narrow defeat at the end.
