Sanah Mollo scored the only goal of the first leg as the South African Women’s side registered an important away victory in Gaborone two weeks ago as they look to progress to the continental competition in Congo Brazzaville later this year.
A draw or win in the second leg will see Banyana conform their spot in the September games, and coach Pauw is confident her side can do the business at home in the reverse fixture.
“Preparations for the first leg were not ideal but we still managed to register a victory,” she said. “I am happy that for the second leg things are in place.
“We are expecting a tough challenge from Botswana as they showed they can be dangerous if left unchecked,” she added.
Pauw has urged local supporters to get behind the national team for this weekend’s clash.
“We hope the crowd will come in large numbers to support the team, and with the experience we got from the Cyprus Cup a few weeks ago, I am hopeful we can emerge victorious again,” she said.
Saturday’s match is part of a double header where the South African Under-23 national team will also take to the field against Sudan – a second leg clash for the same All Africa Games qualifiers. South Africa lost the first leg 2-0 in Sudan.
The matches will take place at Dobsonville Stadium, Soweto on Saturday, 11 April. Banyana kick-off proceedings at 14:00 followed by the U-23s at 16:00.
