Mamelodi Sundowns recorded an historic 1-0 victory away to Al Ahly in their CAF Champions League Group A clash on Saturday evening.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau was named on the Al Ahly bench, whereas the Brazilians started goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene in place of the injured Denis Onyango.
Masandawana were presented a big chance to take the lead after just two minutes through Teboho Mokoena from a forceful delivery by Peter Shalulile, but the attempt went over target.
Ahly started to get into proceedings prior to the half-hour mark where a move led Mohamed Sherif to a shot which Khuliso Mudau managed to block away.
The Brazilians continued to hold ground following a congested opening quarter, with their co-coach Rhulani Mokwena dismissed from the touchline following a remonstration.
Pitso Mosimane's men had the Brazilians living on the edge before halftime after a pile-driver from Aliou Dieng whisked narrowly beyond the top corner of Mweene's goal.

Pitso Mosimane threw on Tau ahead of the second half much to the fans appreciation, with Taher Mohamed the man sacrificed.
Sundowns started the second period on the front foot minutes gone and witnessed Lyle Lakay crack the upright from a cross-cum shot left of the area.
Masandawana were at it again following a few minutes when a flying strike from a promising position by Lakay had goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy at full stretch.
Sundowns began to live dangerously following the latter minutes and needed a goal-line clearance to thwart Tau from grabbing the opener.
However, the Brazilians seized control in the last three minutes after Thapelo Morena got out wide and drilled a telling effort into the top corner.
Ahly seemed to have levelled it up in the dying seconds through a header from Yasser Ibrahim, but Mweene produced an outstanding save that helped Masandawana to victory.
