CAF Champions League match report Mamelodi Sundowns v Wydad Casablanca 04 May 2019

Mamelodi Sundowns were bundled out of the CAF Champions League by Wydad Casablanca after they drew 0-0 in the second leg on Saturday afternoon.

Sundowns remained unchanged from the first-leg, while Wydad missed key players Mohamed Nahiri and Brahim Nakkach through suspension.

The home side looked for an early lead, but Hlompho Kekana failed to guide home Gaston Sirino's corner after just three minutes.

Wydad began pushing up near the half-way stage and almost grabbed the opener through Zouhair El Moutaraji, but a last-ditch clearance from Tebogo Langerman kept the scores level.

As the half went by, Sundowns, with the away goal from the first-leg, probed for the opener but failed to open up the visitors who quite content to sit back and soak up the pressure.

No changes ensued at the break, but Sundowns made a strong start to second period with a shot from the edge of the area by Themba Zwane.

Wydad made the game's first substitution on 53 minutes in the form of Michael Babatunde for El Moutaraji, while Sundowns threw more bodies in attack 63 minutes in with the introduction of Sibusiso Vilakazi for Anele Ngcongca.

Wydad missed a big chance to go ahead on 66 minutes after Babatunde applied a horrible left-footed strike from inside the area as Sundowns' frustrations began to grow.

While Sundowns threw everything forward in search of a goal, the Moroccans kept their shape and were able to hold on for the goalless draw which sees them advance to the final with a 2-1 aggregate victory.
