La Passe head coach: 'Our players are cooks, carpenters and firefighters'

La Passe head coach James Barra has put his side's drubbing to Mamelodi Sundowns into context by revealing his team consists of semi-professionals who are cooks, carpenters are firefighters.

Sundowns ran out comfortable 7-0 winners in their CAF Champions League first-leg second preliminary round at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday.

"As a coach myself I have learnt a lot [from today's match]," Barra said.

"In our country, we train from Mondays to Fridays only in the afternoon, between 17:00 and 19:00 and during those times, we try to do everything.

"We do not have so many coaches, we don't have a physical trainer, we don't have a goalkeeper coach.

"They are few and far between, so we try to do everything ourselves.

"We have different jobs, the players are cooks, carpenters, firefighters, and a few have other various jobs.

"As for me, I am a physical education teacher at a secondary school, and I have a CAF licence.

"The players are forced get salaries from other jobs, and from a football perspective they get allowances from the club."

The second leg gets underway on Friday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium

Kick-off is at 18:00.
