Mngqithi: 'Supporters the most integral part of football'

The Brazilians welcome Sudanese side Al Merrikh to FNB Stadium for their final CAF Champions League Group A clash on Saturday.

After the easing of Covid-19 restrictions by the South African government, stadiums are not allowed to host up to 50% of their capacity.

This means Masandawana could facilitate a crowd of just over 45 000 at FNB Stadium.

"We urge our supporters to come in numbers to support us and not treat this match as a dead rubber," Mngqithi said.

"We would love to play this match in front of our supporters like the fact that we didn't have our supporters with us was a big equaliser.

"We would really love our people to come because this will also be a dress rehearsal for our upcoming Nedbank Cup, CAF quarterfinals and DStv Premiership matches.

"Fans are the most integral part of football and without supporters, football is not the same.

"So now we are grateful that we have the opportunity to welcome them back."

Kick-off is at 15:00.
