Percy Tau, Pitso Mosimane and Orlando Pirates among finalists for CAF award

Percy Tau has made the shortlist for the 2022 CAF Interclubs Player of the Year, while Pitso Mosimane and Orlando Pirates are also finalists in their respective categories.

The Confederation of African Football has confirmed the finalists for 2022 CAF Awards with South Africa represented across three categories following the whittling down of the nominees on Monday.

Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau has made the top 10 for the CAF Interclubs Men's Player of the Year where he will compete for the award with Tiago Azulao, Karim Konate, Achraf Dari, Yahya Jabrane, Zou Moutaraji and Al Ahly teammates, Ali Maaloul, Mohamed Sherif, Aliou Dieng and Mohamed El Shenawy.

Tau's nomination comes after he helped Ahly reach a third consecutive CAF Champions League final and the club's performances on the continent have also seen former coach Pitso Mosimane nominated for the prestigious Coach of the Year accolade.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian giants also made the Top 5 for the Club of the Year, where they are up against South Africa's Orlando Pirates, who feature after reaching the final of the 2021/22 CAF Confederation Cup.

Pirates' Bandile Shandu and Thembinkosi Lorch, who had been nominated for the Interclubs Player of the Year, and Mandla Ncikazi, who was up for the Coach of the Year, have all not made it to the final list of nominees.

The winners will be announced at the CAF Awards ceremony on 21 July 2022, which will be the first time that the event is hosted since 2019.
