Pitso Mosimane addresses Al Ahly links

Pitso Mosimine has offered clarity on reports and calls for him to return to the Egyptian side Al Ahly.

Mosimane won five trophies in just under two years with the Club of the Century and yet still regularly found himself at the receiving end of harsh criticism from club legends and supporters. It was unsurprising when the tactician stepped down from the role in June.

Since Mosimane's departure, Al Ahly has struggled to find its feet. The Egyptian side has won just two of its last five games and slumps in third place – staring at a nine points gap between rivals and log leaders Zamalek.

Meanwhile, sections of Al Ahly supporters continue to flood Mosimane's social media platforms with calls for his return.

Speaking to journalists after a recent press conference in Johannesburg, where he was awarded his CAF Pro Licence and honoured by SAFA as the first South African to receive it, Mosimane responded to questions about a potential return to Al Ahly.

"Look we have won a lot of things and I'm happy to be on the archives of Al Ahly, with all the trophies that we've won," he told the media.

"We had a mandate. We've fulfilled our mandate and we're happy we what we've done and that's where we will end. We've done what we were supposed to do and that's it.

"I don't want to comment on what's happening in Cairo. It's not my space and I must respect the coach that is there."

While Mosimane acknowledged that he misses the dugout, he's turned his immediate attention to the Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools (PMSS) project that aims to develop football at school level. He and his team MT Sports have also launched the Pitso Mosimane Masterclass series.
