A host of players, coaches and one club from South Africa feature prominently among the nominees for the 2022 CAF Awards.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday revealed the nominees for the 2022 CAF Awards which looks to recognise the best players, coaches and clubs from across the African continent during the 2021/22 season.
Soweto giants Orlando Pirates have been nominated for the men's Club of the Year award following their run to the CAF Confederation Cup final, which also saw two of their players nominated for the Interclub Player of the Year accolade.
The award serves to recognise the best African player who plays on the continent and the Buccaneers' Thembinkosi Lorch and Bandile Shandu are among those in the running, alongside countryman Percy Tau of Al Ahly.
Ex-Bucs head coach Mandla Ncikazi has been nominated for the Coach of the Year gong where he faces stern competition from former Ahly boss Pitso Mosimane and a host of the continent's other leading tacticians.
