Rulani Mokwena: 'We have one eye on the Champions League'

Mamelodi Sundowns has not wasted time in launching preparations for the this season's edition of the CAF Champions, confirms head coach Rulani Mokwena.

The 35-year-old has revealed that the side has kept a close eye not just on their own fixtures for the continental showpiece, but also on how the other teams have fared in the qualifiers.

"We have a bit of one eye already on the Champions League, watching the qualifiers, watching to see all these teams and how they play and also making a comparative analysis to try and check where our level is in relation to their level," Mokwena told the club's media.

"Apart from making logistic changes and having an advanced team and people that are very experienced in that space to make sure that we try to find the most convenient ways to travel while maintaining this competitive advantage to give us possibilities to win these football matches, that is number one focus at the moment.

"But also, for sure, it's make sure that we prepare the team, from a tactical perspective, to be strong enough to be able to compete in that space."

Masandawana are looking to have strong campaign the Champions League this season after crashing out at the quarterfinal stages of the last two editions.

The Brazilians last lifted the converted trophy in 2016 are desperate to conquer Africa once more. The Tshwane side will kick-start their campaign with a group stage clash against Al Hilal on 10 February on home soil.
