Bucs travel to Milpark on Tuesday for what promises to be an exciting Absa Premiership clash between two attacking sides who are gunning for second spot.
Tinkler says he is expecting a tough clash against Gavin Hunt’s men, especially with their recent disappointment still fresh in their minds.
“It’s going to be a tough match but we’ll be going there for the three points,” Tinkler tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“We mustn’t forget, they were looking to win the [League] title not so long ago. They’ll be looking to come at us, and they’ll be fired-up after their cup disappointment.”
The ex-Wits assistant coach has also placed equal importance on all of Pirates’ remaining League fixtures as the close of season draws near.
“It’s obviously an important game, but all games are important, especially for a club like Pirates.
“It’s not easy, but it’s my job to keep the players focused and motivated [without any cups up for grabs], and our pride and dignity is still at stake,” he adds.
With the Buccaneers the only team from South Africa still in continental action in the CAF Confederation Cup, Tinkler says it’s important that the team continue their unbeaten League run in 2015 and carry the momentum into Africa.
“We still have the group stages of the Confederation Cup ahead of us, so it is vitally important for us to continue our momentum in the League, but we’re also keeping our sights on second spot [in the League].
“We have Sundowns ahead of us, who are still competing for the League title. But if anyone above us drops points then that will allow us for a Champions League spot.
“Obviously the focus is on ourselves, but hopefully we can have a few results go our way that would see us moving up one more place,” concludes the 44-year-old former Bafana Bafana midfielder.
