Eric Tinkler on CS Sfaxien challenge

Bucs meet CS Sfaxien in the CAF Confederation Cup group match in Tunisia this weekend, looking to bounce back from the 2-1 defeat they suffered against Zamalek at home two weeks ago.

This after they were not able to protect their 1-0 lead as they allowed the Egyptian giants to come back and win the match.

Ahead of CS Sfaxien match, Tinkler says they will need to avoid repeating that mistake again.

"I think it was a learning curve, a good experience for the boys. At this stage of a competition, you realise that you are playing against extremely tough opposition and there are no easy games," Tinkler says.

"When you get a lead, you have to try and protect that lead. And I think that was what we learnt from the game against Zamalek. We are going to CS Sfaxien with a positive mindset to try and collect all three points."

With Sfaxien only having a point from two matches, the ex-Bafana Bafana midfielder says it is important for his side to collect all three to open a big gap between them and the Tunisian giants.

"It was disappointing to lose at home. It is vitally important to collect three points away from home now,” he says.

"If we can do that and Zamalek collect three points against AC Leopards, I believe we will be one game away from qualifying which is our objective … to get to semifinals.

"But what we are going to see from Sfaxien is not going to be different from what we saw from Zamalek; they also play the 4-3-3 formation and are extremely discipline tactically.

Defensively they are organised and make it difficult for teams to break them down.

"We saw Zamalek when they played them there, they only managed to score in the dying minutes and it came from a set-piece. So we have to be very good offensive to try and break them down and defensively we have got to be solid."
