Kaizer Chiefs' Ernst Middendorp laments Kgotso Moleko absence for CAF Confederation Cup clash with Elgeco Plus after SuperSport display

Middendorp started his second reign at the club with a 1-0 league win over SuperSport United at Mbombela Stadium last night, having replaced the sacked Giovanni Solinas at Naturena last week.

The German fielded Moleko against SuperSport, but will be without his services for their Confederation Cup first round, first leg clash with Madagascar's Elgeco Plus at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday (20h15).

"It is a pity of a situation," Middendorp said.

"I liked him from the first day I saw him. He is a player with huge potential."

Chiefs, however, will be boosted by the return from suspension of midfield workhorse Willard Katsande on the weekend.

Middendorp is reluctant to make wholesale changes to his outfit.

"I’m definitely interested to play as much as possible the players who played today [Wednesday]," Middendorp said.

"But we must wait until tomorrow. There was a bit of cramping from Philani Zulu. We have to really look at who is really prepared to take it in. We only have three days, but I personally don’t like to put in a new team. We are in the middle of the season, we should really go for it.

"[A] good player like Katsande is coming back and he is available. I must also look in to the list. I know there are 24 players registered but we have one or two players on the field today, who are not registered.

"But excuse me please. I’m starting now to find out the list and will look into it."
