Pirates could face Al Ahly, Raja Casablanca, CS Sfaxien or AC Leopards in the play-off round of the tournament after the quartet were among those dumped out of the Champions League on the weekend.
Bucs will find out their next opponents in the event when CAF hold a draw in Cairo on Tuesday.
"It is always good to play at the highest level," says Erasmus, who plundered a hat-trick in the 3-0 rout of CF Mounana at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
"This is how you can judge yourself, competing against the best because we are one of the best teams in Africa.
"I hope we get one of the big [teams] to test ourselves how far we are in our game and the level of football in South Africa. I hope we can turn things around and show people that we are not small boys, we are no pushovers and we want to stamp our authority in Africa."
Buccaneers coach Eric Tinkler says his players will need no extra motivation to tackle the best the continent has to offer.
"The only way to test yourself and your ability, you can only do that against the best," Tinkler says. "As a coach you don't need to motivate the players, they motivate themselves.
"It's a fantastic experience for everybody. It's like during my playing days, always looking forward to play against the Manchester United and AC Milans of this world," adds the former Bafana Bafana and Cagliari midfielder.
