The trio will today join Bafana Bafana in camp to prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gambia in Durban on Saturday, and Angola in a friendly match next week Tuesday.
The three players have been involved in Pirates CAF Confederations Cup commitments and will not have a break as they switch focus to Bafana.
Pirates caretaker coach Eric Tinkler has given all his players seven days off after they advanced to the group stages of the Confederation Cup, following their 6-1 aggregate win over AS Kaloum.
“Unfortunately Oupa Manyisa, Thabo Matlaba and Patrick Phungwayo will go and join Bafana Bafana so they are not going to have that week off,” says Tinkler.
“But sometimes I also think we are reading too much to a degree because I think, what is important is the time that they do get off, they get away from the game.
“But also, we as a technical team recognise that these guys go through game after game, and the type of regeneration and the time we give them off is vitally important.
“I look at guys like Lionel Messi, I don't think he has had a day off in years and now he is going to the Copa America [with Argentina],” he adds.
The group stages of the Confeds Cup will kick-off on the 26th of June with Bucs visiting AC Leopards in their opening match.
