Pirates coach Tinkler wary of desperate AC Leopards in CAF Confederation Cup

Pirates will reach the semi-finals of the competition with a game in hand if they avoid defeat against the Congolese outfit, who need a victory to keep their hopes of progressing alive.

"This is an all or nothing game for Leopards," Tinkler told his club's website.

"They come to Jo’burg knowing that nothing less than a win will be sufficient. It is vitally important that we are disciplined defensively and ensure that we don’t concede goals.

"When they do open up we need to punish them the same way we punished CS Sfaxien, that doesn’t change. We need to play with intelligence, we know we need only one point but that doesn’t mean we are going to sit back."

Meanwhile, the former Bafana Bafana midfielder accepts injuries will affect his squad given their taxing schedule, with goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo the latest casualty.

"Obviously we want all our best players available but this [injuries] was expected due to the fact that we have had the two seasons overlapping and the team has not had an end of season break.

"We are going to get injuries but fortunately for us with the exception of Brighton Mhlongo who has a major injury, everyone else who has been out has been minor and not too serious."

The Sea Robbers enter the match with confidence following a 4-1 victory over Chippa United in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday night.
