Roger de Sa: Pirates can win CAF Confederation Cup

The Ajax Cape Town coach – who led the Sea Robbers to the CAF Champions League Final in 2013, when they lost to Al Ahly – feels the current team is well equipped to win the second-tier African cup.

The teams left in the Confederation Cup, on paper at least, look stronger than those still in the Champions League, but De Sa is confident Eric Tinkler's side has what it takes to conquer.

"Solid and convincing performance by Orlando Pirates today. Well done Eric and the boys. Proudly SA," De Sa tweeted after their 4-1 demolition of AS Kaloum on Saturday.

Before adding today: "CAF Confederation Cup groups are never easy but Orlando Pirates can top the group. They have it in them to go all the way. Do us proud guys."

The Buccaneers are in Group B alongside AC Leopards (Congo), Zamalek (Egypt) and CS Sfaxien (Tunisia).

Group A consists of Al Ahly (Egypt), Esperance, Etoile du Sahel (both Tunisia) and Stade Malien (Mali).
