Thabo Rakhale not focusing on Bafana yet

The 25-year-old is enjoying his football with Bucs, becoming one of the first names on coach Eric Tinkler’s team-sheet and helping the club reach the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals with a match to spare.

There have been calls for him to be included in the Bafana squad, but Rakhale says his focus is on Pirates for now.

“I didn't even think about the call-up and all that because what I wanted was to be regular in my team and so far I will say slowly I'm getting there,” Rakhale says.

“The call-up will be a bonus for me but at the moment my focus in purely on Pirates.”

Rakhale, who has scored two goals in the CAF Confederation Cup this year, says he is looking forward to playing in Egypt for the first time when Pirates meet Zamalek in their final match of Group B on Saturday night.

“I haven’t played in Egypt, but the guys who have played there before told me that it is more like in Tunisia. So I'm not expecting anything different from the time we've been in Tunisia.”
