Tinkler shifts focus to Africa

The Buccaneers earned a 2-2 draw in Gabon earlier this month, with goals from Thabo Rakhale and Lehlohonolo Majoro securing two crucial away goals ahead of Saturday’s reverse encounter in Johannesburg.

Tinkler is hoping an early goal in the second-leg will put the opposition under early pressure to ensure Bucs’ progression in the competition.

“We need to take advantage of the fact that we scored those vital two away goals by not conceding at home,” he told his club’s official website.

“It is vital that we get ourselves an early goal because that will obviously put them under pressure which means they will have to go in search for a third goal and that is a scenario we will look to exploit.”

Tinkler also feels his defence need to be at their best in order to prevent Mounana from getting into the game.

“It is very important that we stay disciplined in defence, ensure we don’t concede and when we do have possession of the ball we must make sure that we capitalise and score goals,” he said.

“If we can get two early goals it will make the match more comfortable and we can move into the next round of the competition.”

Kick-off at Orlando Stadium is scheduled for 20:15 on Saturday evening.
