Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has exclusively explained to KickOff the reason for accepting the invitation to participate in the Home Of Legends Cup.
Comitis confirmed the Citizen's participation in the one-day tournament that is funded by the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality.
On Tuesday, Chippa United pulled out of the tournament in a dispute over financial distribution.
Crowd pullers Kaizer Chiefs, PSL defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Lamontville Golden Arrows, and Cape Town City will battle it out at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on November 16.

Apparently the Chilli Boys wanted the appearance fee to be distributed equally to all participating clubs, even though the traveling expenses were not equal as the other three are from outside the province.
The tournament will be played on the weekend of the upcoming FIFA international break.
With Bafana Bafana in action during that weekend, Sundowns are expected to be without some of their regular players.
"Yes, we have been invited to the Home Of Legends Cup, and we have responded positively. We are just waiting to see if it will materialize," Comitis tells KickOff.
