But according to the club's media officer Julian Bailey that is not the case this time.
The Western Cape-born attacking midfielder is currently a free agent and can join a team of his choice as he is not affected by yesterday's transfer window deadline.
According to an insider, Patosi is considering playing in the PSL as he now wants to be closer to home.
He cut ties with the Persian Gulf Pro League club Foolad on 25 January 2023.
"This happens every year whenever he comes to Cape Town people think he has signed with us [Laughs]," Club media officer Julian Bailey tells KickOff.
"Yes, he is here in Cape Town, out of contract, but he is not with us.
"I really doubt that [Patosi will sign with Cape Town City], but like I said I haven't spoken to the chairman [John Comitis] but I don't think this is possible.
"As for Patosi I've sent him the screenshots of all the WhatsApp messages that I've been getting from the media asking if he is with us, and he just laughs."
