The 33-year-old hung up his boots in June after failing to recover from a serious knee injury while representing Kaizer Chiefs.
The decorated attacker began his professional career at Ajax Cape Town in 2010, before moving on to clubs such as SuperSport United, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Turkish club, Konyaspor before joining Chiefs in 2018.
"It's important to have a bridge between the coach and the players," Comitis tells KickOff.
"And both my coaches are highly technical and extremely efficient. I'm talking about my coach and my assistant coach.
"But, sometimes you need a coach that will be the in-between.
"I think Lebo, with his experience and passion for the brand will rub off on a lot of players.
"His appointment was discussed with Eric some time back. He was here in training, trying to make it back as a player a year ago.
"And when he could not manage it due to his injury, Eric suggested we should try and keep him, even though he won't play, he is the kind of guy we need at this club.
"He went back to sort out his operation, and now we've agreed that he should join us.
"He's a great asset to the club, we're planning to help him with his coaching courses, but there is a lot we can't teach Manyama, as he's got playing experience.
"But as a coach, you've got to have all the aspects of coaching, to be able to coach."
