In-demand Khanyisa Mayo remaining focused on Cape Town City despite reported Mamelodi Sundowns interest

Midfielder Khanyisa Mayo steadfastly insists he remains committed to Cape Town City despite reported interest from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mayo is impressing for the Citizens since joining from DStv Premiership rivals Richards Bay last season.

The 24-year-old midfielder's impressive displays have already resulted in two appearances for Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana side.

"Regarding that [Sundowns interest], my focus is with Cape Town City," Mayo tells KickOff.

"I am contracted to Cape Town City, and I want to win trophies with Cape Town City.

"So other interests in me, I am not worried about because my focus is with Cape Town City at the moment.

Mayo is set to miss the chance to play against his brother Khanyisile Mayo when Cape Town City visit Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday due to injury.

"Unfortunately, I won't be in the team, but it will be a good opportunity for him to play against Cape Town City.

"In the previous fixture, we won 2-1 with both of us on the same field.

"It's a great honour and opportunity facing each other. It makes our family proud.

"My dad, mom and everyone who supports us in the family are delighted seeing us playing against each other at the highest level in South Africa."
