Cape Town City, who have had quite a challenging season marked by average performances and poor results, have been backed to pull themselves out of the quagmire with just three games remaining.
The Citizens are currently in 14th position on the log after suffering defeat against Richards Bay FC on Friday and now have four matches of importance remaining.
Former defender Thabang Rooi, who played for Mpumalanga Black Aces before they were sold to Cape Town City and moved to the Mother City, has faith Diogo Peral's men will avoid the dreaded drop.
"They are in a very bad position right now, but I promise you Cape Town City won't be relegated," says a confident Rooi.
"They will fight in their remaining games and collect the needed points to survive. They have a good squad and it's just that they have been unfortunate in most games this season. But they can avoid relegation and they will avoid it."
The Vereeniging-born man also revealed the number of points the side should be targeting from the fixtures that remain, which are against Royal AM (home, but likely to not be played), Mamelodi Sundowns (home), Polokwane City (away), and Stellenbosch FC (home).
"If they can win three games from the remaining matches, then they will be safe."
