Calvin Marlin gives brutally honest reaction to Spurs departure

Goalkeeping coach Calvin Marlin has given a brutally honest reaction after departing Cape Town Spurs as part of Shaun Bartlett's technical team.

Marlin, assistant coach Nasief Morris, and Bartlett mutually agreed to leave the Urban Warriors following an underwhelming start to the season.

Spurs have failed to register a win in their opening seven DStv Premiership fixtures and are languishing at the bottom of the league standings.

"Yes, all of us, we've left the club, they just said they wanted a clean sweep, that's what they told me," Marlin tells KickOff.

"My job was to coach the goalkeepers.

"Seven games, seven losses, surely you can't call that success. There is no other word for it except failure.

"This is football, what do you think happens when you can't get positive results, you can call it what you want."

Morris similarly confirmed his departure after a difficult spell at the club.

"Myself, and the coach (Bartlett), and Calvin have left the club," Morris confirmed.

"But maybe Ari can explain the reason. I don't want to say much about this."

KickOff also learned that Marlin was told on Monday to vacate his accommodation at the club's facility within 24 hours.

Spurs have since hired former Cape Town City assistant coach Vasili Manousakis to assist acting head coach Sean Connor until a suitable head coach is appointed.
