Daniels opens up on CT Spurs challenges

Cape Town Spurs defender Clayton Daniels has broken his silence on the club's poor start to the 2023/24 DStv Premiership Season.

The Urban Warrior's slow start has seen them lose all five league matches they have played so far this season.

Last week, the club stated through a statement their position in current head coach Shaun Barlett.

"It's those little errors that cost us. It's not like we are underperforming or anything like that," Daniels tells KickOff.

"We are a team that likes to attack, like to be in the front foot. We are playing attractive football. It's just those individual errors that let us down at this moment.

"90% of this squad never played at this level. They are going to have to pay the school fees, gonna have to learn quickly. So it's all work in progress, Hopefully, sooner or later we can turn things around.

"In the beginning and also last week the guys were a little bit down, obviously they are not happy with the results, but as the week went along the guys tried to be positive, we are training twice a day now. We are putting in the work, we are working on the areas where we lacking.

The veteran defender says the Urban Warriors are using the international break to regroup ahead of their next league clash.

"Now that we are in the international break we have lots of training sessions," he continued

"We came straight from play-offs, we never really had a pre-season. We using this time now to get deep into things.

"We helping this group of players to understand the level that is required. We needed this break, we needed to regroup, The first five games were a hard lesson for us.

"We have to support the coach you have to support every player, football is a team effort. We support the coach and we are behind him also, we have a good coach at the helm.

"We knew it was never going to be easy. Coming from the playoffs and jumping straight into the league. We never had a pre-season."
