CONFIRMED | Struggling Spurs part ways with Shaun Bartlett

Cape Town Spurs have confirmed the departure of head coach Shaun Bartlett after a mutual agreement to following a disastrous start to the DStv Premiership.

The Urban Warriors have had a nightmare start to their campaign, suffering seven consecutive defeats from their opening seven matches in the DStv Premiership, languishing at the bottom of the table.

The Cape Town-based club confirmed Bartlett's exit in a brief statement released via social media on Monday morning.

"Following an extensive review and discussions with Shaun Bartlett and taking into consideration the current set of results- we have mutually agreed to the termination of the Head Coaches contract with immediate effect," the club wrote.

Bartlett had led the Urban Warriors to promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship after coming up on top in the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs against Maritzburg United and Casric Stars.

As part of the restructure, Spurs announced the arrival of technical director of Sean Connor, who will work closely with with new head coach.

Meanwhile, Spurs will take on SuperSport United in a DStv Premiership fixture on Wednesday at Athlone Stadium. Kick-off is at 19:30.
