Cape Town Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou could not contain his excitement about securing the services of an experienced defender.
Spurs signed former Maritzburg United and Stellenbosch veteran defender, Rafiq De Goede, who has been without a club since September 2023.
The 30-year-old played 20 matches in all competitions for the relegated Team of Choice, and nine matches for Stellenbosch during the 2022/23 Premier Soccer League season, and is expected to bring much-needed stability to the backline of the struggling Cape side.
The Urban Warriors are currently stuck at the bottom of the DStv Premiership log table.

"Santa Clause was here in Cape Town," Efstathiou tells KickOff.
"He just dropped Rafiq De Goede here in Cape Town.
"He was a free agent when we signed him. He terminated with Maritzburg last season. I think he was a bit under the radar because people didn't realise that he was available. And to be honest I can't remember if he was on our shopping list or not.
"But yeah, we did know about him, and when I mentioned to the coach that there was a possibility we can get him, he said to me, get him straight away," the chairman said.

"We have conceded a few goals, so we need to see what he can do in our defence for us to get things right. So we're working on a couple of situations to try and strengthen the team. It's a possibility yeah. We're looking to sign three to four players. We looking to strengthen the defence, midfield, and the strike force."
Spurs will host neighbours Cape Town Spurs FC at the DHL Cape Town Stadium on New Year's Eve.
