Chiefs, SuperSport Carling Knockout clash excites Polokwane Municipality

The venue and the date for the Carling Knockout's last 16 encounter between hosts SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs have been revealed.

With Matsatsantsa getting ready to host Amakhosi in the much-anticipated cup tie next week at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium, the dates, times, and venues were revealed by the Premier Soccer League yesterday.

The final will be played at Orlando Stadium on 21 December 2024.

SuperSport will also host the Phefeni Glamour Boys in a Premiership encounter at the same venue on Saturday 26 October 2024.

Polokwane used to be SuperSport United's happy hunting ground during current head coach Gavin Hunt's previous spell with the team as he recorded three consecutive league titles.

According to the Polokwane Municipality Sports Department's Mantlako Sebaka, the municipality is looking forward to hosting the two fixtures.

"Well look, we have agreed with SuperSport United that the Carling Knockout match will be played right here at Peter Mokaba Stadium," Sebaka tells KickOff.

"The Premiership match is now a fact, and remember that game [Premiership match on 26 October 2024] before the one on the 19th of October [Carling Knockout].

"So yes both matches are at the Peter Mokaba Stadium."
