Mammila breaks silence on Vilakazi departure

Chippa United head coach Morgan Mammila has broken his silence on the shocking resignation of his former assistant coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi.

In September, Vilakazi surprisingly left Golden Arrows and joined fellow DStv Premiership side Chippa United, where he served as both technical director and assistant coach.

However, two months after being roped in by the Port Elizabeth side, he handed in his resignation and was unveiled at Richards Bay a couple weeks later.

Vilakazi is currently serving as an assistant to Bay's head coach Kaetano Tembo, but Mammila says he was not disappointed by the youthful coach's sudden's resignation.

"To be honest every person is important, just like him Vilakazi," Mammila tells KickOff.

"Vilakazi was important at Golden Arrows, also here I think he was important, and now I think he is also important to Richards Bay FC.

"I don't know his reason for leaving us, I think he is the right person to tell. I'd be lying.

"He knows why he left and it's not for me to say I was disappointed or happy you know, it's just one of those things that happens in football you know.

"I don't feel betrayed by his decision, I've got an assistant, remember even when he came I already had an assistant."

The Chilli Boys are currently in position 9 on the DStv Premiership log table with 18 points in 14 matches and have managed to gather only four wins so far.

"You can see how tough this league is, so we just trying our level best to compete just like any other team."
