Chippa keeper attracts Euro interest

Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali looks set to leave Chippa United at the end of the season after receiving offers from Europe.

Nwabali has been one of the standout performers for Nigeria during the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast. The Chippa goalkeeper has only conceded once in this year's edition of the AFCON tournament.

The 27-year-old and the Super Eagles will take on Bafana Bafana in the AFCON semi-final clash at the Stade Bouake in Ivory Coast on Wednesday evening.

Mohammed Lawal, who represents the Chilli Boys goalkeeper, confirmed that his client has attracted interest abroad.

"There is interest in France and Saudi Arabia. There is no surprise because of his performance during the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast," Lawal tells KickOff.

Nwabali was linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs before joining the Super Eagles for the continental tournament. However, Lawal preferred not to discuss the Nigerian's link to Amakhosi.

"I have only seen that in newspapers. I cannot comment on anything regarding local interest. Please speak to the chairman of the club," he added.

Chippa United has been represented by two goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali and Lloyd Kazapua of Namibia during the competition.
