Bennet Mahlubi requests football jersey as birthday gift on 9 April 2021

'Mahlubi' as Mahlemakhulu is well known for having an eye for talent in Daveyton and helping secure moves to Kaizer Chiefs for a number of players, including Pollen Ndlanya, Jabu Mahlangu and Junior Khanye.

Today, as he celebrates his birthday, he remains very much involved with football in his township, despite facing mental challenges relating to amnesia.

"I am still much involved with football and still help a lot of youngsters in our area," Mehlomakhulu tells snl24.com/kickoff, in the presence of his nephew Mazizi Rahlahane.

"I am happy some of the players that I helped to produce for South Africa still come and see me – I'm talking about Kgotso  Malope, Junior Khanye and Duze who is now a lawyer.

"Lebo Maboe has given me something. I will also not forget Nhlanhla Kubheka – he bought me a bed and wardrobe.

"I want to start my own academy because I still want to produce more players for the PSL. I can accept anything for my birthday but I would like to get a soccer jersey to help start with my academy."

Despite his mental condition, Rahlahane says his uncle still has passion for football as well as an eye for talent.

"I can tell you he still has passion for football. He loves the game so much, he is turning 64 on Friday but still going strong with his football. He still has a dream of helping a lot of youngsters in Daveyton get the opportunity of playing in the PSL."

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Humphrey Mlwane is also another player from Daveyton that 'Mahlubi' helped facilitate his move to Moroka Swallows before joining Amakhosi.
