Diski champs rub shoulders with Premier League legends

The DStv Diski Challenge champions recently jetted off to the United Kingdom and got the chance to rub shoulders with two Premier League legends. Check it out! 

What Happened?

Stellenbosch FC were crowned the champions in May after defeating TS Galaxy on the final day to clinch the title with 64 points from 30 matches.

One of the benefits of being the title holders is that you get to go to England where they will play a few times in the nation.  

Big tournament for the champs

Fresh off their DStv Diski shield final defeat to Kaizer Chiefs over the weekend, The rising stars got the opportunity to pose with the Premier League title while Jermaine Defoe and Wes Morgan who both spent many years in English top flight with the latter even winning the league with Leicester City in 2016. You can be sure that the players hung onto every word they said. 

The Stellies youth are expected to take part in the NextGen tournament. 

As part of their trip, the ballers also took to a park in the United Kingdom as they did some stretches and acclimatized to the weather which is known to be colder than Africa.

Not many footballers in South Africa get the chance to go overseas and test themselves against the best in other regions. 

Did you know? 

The Club was formed in August 2016 when the Premier Soccer League Executive Committee approved the application from the National First Division side, Vasco Da Gama, for a name change following the relocation from Parow to the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport ( SAS)
