Modiba and Kekana reportedly spent in the region of R20 000 from their own pockets to secure the food parcels.

"I'm happy to see people receiving these food parcels. Out of my hectic schedule of training at home I managed to come," said Modiba, who grew up in the area.

Defender Kekana added: "It's a good initiative considering the fact that me and Aubrey have the same mindset of giving back due to this pandemic.

"We want to go back to the field of play but we respect the instructions from government to stay at home."

Mark Mayambela and Ayanda Patosi did a similar thing for the Khayelitsha township in Cape Town a few weeks ago.

Clubs such as Baroka and Stellenbosch have also been doing their bit in their respective communities to assist with coronavirus support and relief.
